Three months have flown by since Jake Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson in their fight streamed on Netflix. Yet, the anticipation for his next opponent – the biggest question surrounding him – continues.
Paul’s determination to face Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the Mexican boxing icon, in his next fight is unwavering. Despite Canelo’s preference for fighting ‘real contenders’, Paul’s desire remained strong until the details of Alvarez’s next fight were disclosed.
Alvarez’s next fight will be against William Scull for the undisputed super middleweight championship on May 3, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This fight is part of a four-fight deal that Alvarez signed with Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.
Jake Paul claims Canelo Alvarez backed out of fight
Paul took to social media to express his frustration with Alvarez after they reportedly had an agreement to fight on May 3 in Las Vegas. However, news broke that Alvarez signed a deal with Riyadh that showcased that he will fight on the Cinco De Mayo weekend in Saudi Arabia.
In a video posted on social media, Paul shared the fight agreement report and accused Alvarez of ‘ducking out on the fight.’ The video also included a clip of Alvarez stating that he ‘only fights real fighters.’
Who will Jake Paul fight next?
It is still uncertain who Jake Paul will fight next or when he will return to the ring after his hopes of facing Canelo were dashed. Although Canelo has made it clear that he will not fight Paul, that hasn’t stopped Paul from doing everything he can to provoke the Mexican star.
